Former England striker Brian Deane has told The Scottish Sun that Celtic should sign Molde forward Mohamed Elyounoussi - and admitted recommending the youngster to Newcaslte.
Elyounoussi, 21, started his career with Sarpsborg, and after scoring 16 goals in 69 games, the Moroccan-born forward moved on to Molde.
With 36 goals in 77 games for Molde - including two against Celtic in this season's Europa League - Elounyoussi has become a star in the Tippeligaen, and now has three caps for Norway.
Recent reports from The Scottish Sun suggested that Celtic were plotting a £2m raid to bring Elyounoussi to Glasgow, and pair him up with his compatriot Ronny Deila and international team-mate Stefan Johansen, with Celtic searching for attacking reinforcements.
With pace as well as the ability to play out wide or through the middle, Elyounoussi looks to be a dangerous player now, but he also has great potential too.
Now, his former Sarpsborg boss Brian Deane has told The Scottish Sun that he thinks Celtic must make a move for Elyounoussi, and believes Norwegian players want to join the Bhoys in order to link up with the aforementioned Deila and Johansen.
Deane also claims that he offered Elyounoussi to Newcastle during Alan Pardew's time at the club, but that move didn't materialise - and says Celtic should take advantage and sign him.
"Signing Mo would be a shrewd investment because it makes sense on and off the field for Celtic," said Deane. "Not only is Mo a very fine player who will go down well with Celtic fans, who are renowned for liking flair players, but it’s a good move for Mo that will see his value shoot up in the future as he’ll really kick on under Ronny Deila."
"Funnily enough, I recommended him to Alan Pardew when he was at Newcastle and suggested he take a look at Mo when I’d just taken over as manager because his potential was there for all to see. It was clear to me this kid would be a serious player."
"If there is one club in Scotland that every player in Norway would like to play for at the present time it would have to be Celtic because of Ronny and Stefan Johansen," he added.
