Emmanuel Adebayor has signed for Crystal Palace, finally clinching a deal since his release from Tottenham Hotspur in September.
Spurs had tried desperately to sell Adebayor to Aston Villa and West Ham in the summer, but the striker dug his heels in, and despite being no longer required at the North London side, they have been paying his wages over the past few months.
Adebayor signing for Palace is beneficial to Tottenham, as The Telegraph explains they could end up covering the rest of his wages, if he meets bonus criteria dependent on performance. Palace are committed to paying £65,000 of the £100,000 per week Tottenham owe him.
There are 22 weeks until Adebayor's contract expires on June 30, meaning that as a minimum, even if Adebayor does not hit any bonuses, Tottenham will save £1.43 million.
This money will be paid by Palace, with Tottenham paying a maximum of £770,000 for him to play for the Eagles.
The good news is the two teams do not play each other in the Premier League again so he cannot haunt Mauricio Pochettino's side, unless the two teams get drawn together in the FA Cup.
Here is a look at how Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to the deal...
