Tottenham fans send message to Gareth Bale via Twitter after Alli excitement

Tottenham fans had a united message to send to Gareth Bale at the weekend.

Dele Alli's stunning goal for Tottenham Hotspur against Crystal Palace at the weekend left the football world in awe.

There was not complete surprise as the England international is known to be an outstanding talent, but the sheer quality of the strike left everybody who saw it wanting a second look.

Among those to reach out to Alli was former Tottenham hero Gareth Bale, now the most expensive player in the world, after leaving in 2013 to sign with Real Madrid.

Alli earlier today replied to Bale, keeping it short and sweet, but wishing to acknowledge the praise all the same.

It will be only a few months until the pair potentially share the same pitch again, as they did in pre-season for their clubs in early August.

Alli is likely to be in the England side against Bale's Wales at Euro 2016, but Tottenham fans would clearly like something more substantial - which involves Alli staying put.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino loosely mooted last week, via SkySports, that he would take Bale back at Tottenham - a feeling backed almost unanimously by the club's support.

Madrid's desire to keep him, and the financial effort it would involve would mean it is not a deal for Spurs to pursue now at least, but the messages from Spurs fans in response to Bale's tweet will have left the attacker in no doubt as to their feelings towards him.

Here is a look at the messages sent directly to Bale's account...
