Former Leicester City midfielder Robbie Savage said on BBC Radio 5 live 606 on Saturday evening (January 23) that Liverpool should make a move for Jack Butland in the summer transfer window.
Mignolet is the first-choice goalkeeper at Anfield at the moment and has a contract until June 2021.
“If I was the manager of Liverpool, what I would be doing in the summer is putting a bid for Jack Butland,” said Savage on BBC Radio 5 live 606 on Saturday evening (January 23). “That’s what I would be doing, and keep Mignolet as back-up. That’s what I would do.”
Butland is just 22 years of age and is widely regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers in the Premier League.
The England international has been playing brilliantly for Stoke this campaign, and looks like he could become top class in the coming years.
In 23 Premier League appearances so far this season, the former Birmingham City man has kept nine clean sheets, and has made 2.87 saves per game and 2.64 saves per goal on average.
Stoke are ninth in the league table at the moment with 33 points from 23 matches, nine points behind Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently fourth and occupy the final Champions League spot.
