Nicolai Boilesen has rejected the opportunity to move to Wolves this month, SoccerNews reports.
The Danish left-back has not played once for Ajax this season, having been outcast from the first-team squad by head coach Frank de Boer.
He is out of contract at the end of this season, and Ajax are trying to offload the 23-year-old this month for a few rather than lose him for a free at the end of the campaign.
Wolves made an offer for Boilesen which was accepted by Ajax, and it appeared as if the Danish international would be resurrecting his career after a poor campaign.
However, Boilesen has rejected the chance to sign with the Championship club, refusing their contract offer.
It is not stated in the report as to why Boilesen rejected the offer, but it is said that he has a ‘plan B up his sleeve’, and will secure a move to this unknown team instead before the end of this month.
Boilesen would have been an absolutely fantastic signing for a Championship side, but now Wolves are being forced to look elsewhere for targets as Kenny Jackett hopes to shore up his defence before the end of the month.
