Todd Kane of Chelsea is a target for Newcastle and Southampton, De Gelderlander reports.
The 22-year-old right-back is currently on loan at NEC Nijmegen in the Eredivisie, and he has been impressing with the club. The Englishman has managed 22 appearances in all competitions, and the report claims that both Chelsea and NEC are delighted with his development this term.
NEC are reportedly interested in loaning him for another season at the end of this deal, but Chelsea are said to be keen on integrating him into their first-team if his good form continues.
However, the Blues’ poor record for youth development means that this is an unlikely situation, and a group of teams are ready to swoop in for the defender and sign him in the summer.
Newcastle and Southampton are both showing an interest in him, as well as the Eredivisie quartet, but Kane himself has heard that Chelsea want him back next season.
Speaking in the same report, the young full-back said: “Chelsea say that I prepare normally for the new season in the first-team. I grew up in Chelsea and would like to break through [there]. That there are so many options is nice. The Netherlands is beautiful, but the Premier League is a bigger competition. The point is then what are my prospects, and what Chelsea want. The summer is very important.”
