Celtic are set to end their interest in Ljuban Crepulja, STV reports.
The 22-year-old Croatian midfielder has been on trial with Ronny Deila’s side for the past week, as the Celtic head coach ran the rule over him.
He was a target for Deila, but clearly the head coach is not convinced after seeing him at close quarters for a length of time.
Now that his trial has ended, Celtic are not willing to offer Crepulja a permanent switch to Parkhead, and they have ended their interest in him.
A holding midfielder, it is likely that Deila will go out and target a new defensive player this month, to fill the void in his team which he considers weak.
In the last week of the transfer window, Deila does not have much time left to target and sign a new player, but it is clear that he wants further recruitment in his midfield.
One player who looks to be heading to Parkhead in the coming days is Manchester City youngster Patrick Roberts. The 18-year-old winger has held talks with the Bhoys, and the STV report indicates that he is set to link up with the Scottish champions on a loan deal until the end of the season.
