Aston Villa and West Ham took in two major European clashes this weekend, the Daily Mail reports.
The four Premier League clubs were in attendance at Porto v Maritimo in Portugal, as well as Lyon v Marseille in France, both on Sunday.
The first game ended in a 1-0 victory for Porto, whilst the latter was a 1-1 draw between the two Ligue 1 sides.
Andre Andre scored for Porto in their victory, whilst Remy Cabella and Corentin Tolisso scored for Marseille and Lyon respectively.
Whilst there were no standout performers, and the report does not state which players were being scouted by Aston Villa and West Ham, there are talents in the ranks of both teams.
Bruno Martins Indi played for Porto, and has long been linked with a switch to England, whilst prodigious talent Ruben Neves featured for the last 20 minutes. He has been touted as a Premier League player in the future, and Villa or the Hammers would be pulling off a coup if they could sign him.
In the Lyon v Marseille game, it was a battle between Michy Batshuayi and Alexandre Lacazette, two strikers expected to move to England before too long.
Neither performed too well, but the scouts are sure to continue tracking the duo due to the talent and potential they have shown in recent years.
