Remi Garde hoping for Aston Villa signings

Aston Villa are hoping to make additions in the January transfer window.

Aston Villa boss Remi Garde has suggested to the Birmingham Mail that he believes the club have a chance of making additions this week.

Villa have been linked with a number of players in the January transfer window, but they are yet to complete a signing.

Garde is understood to be desperate to add more quality to his squad, and despite having a frustrating time in the transfer window so far, he is still optimistic for the future.

“Hopefully yes,” Garde said when asked if Villa were likely to make signings this week.

“I don’t know exactly what. We will see.

“Sometimes the end of the transfer window is active.”

Villa are looking to strengthen every area of their squad, as they look to mount an unlikely bid for survival.

The Claret and Blues are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions, but they remain 10 points adrift of safety.

Villa have targeted Lovre Kalinic, but the goalkeeper’s move to Villa Park has fallen through due to his failure to obtain a work permit.

Garde’s side are also linked with Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy in the Birmingham Mail, while the same paper suggests that NEC Nijmegen’s Christian Santos is on their wishlist.
