HITC Sport understands Sampdoria eye move for Chievo star to replace Leicester target

Sampdoria are eyeing a move for Chievo striker Alberto Paloschi as a possible replacement for Leicester City target Eder, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Sampdoria are facing a battle to keep hold of striker Eder with Premier League hopefuls Leicester hoping to lure the player to the King Power Stadium.

The two clubs are thought to be in talks over a deal for Eder after Leiceter made a bid for the Brazilian-born forward as Claudio Ranieri looks to bring in a new attacker before the close of the transfer window.

Sampdoria are drawing up a shortlist of targets to replace Eder should they offload the Italian international to Leicester and Paloschi has emerged as their top target.

Paloschi has impressed for Chievo this season with eight goals so far this season, with four of those strikes coming in his last eight outings.

The 26-year-old is highly-regarded in Serie A after coming through the ranks at AC Milan and he has scored over 60 goals in his career to date.

After finding his first-team chances limited at Milan Paloschi joined Parma on loan in 2008 and helped the club win promotion back to Serie A in his first season.

Following a short spell at Genoa Milan re-signed Paloschi for €5million before sending him on loan to Chievo and after a successful stint on loan he joined them on a permanent basis in the summer of 2014.
