Tottenham have an advantage in the title race, according to Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606 show, Ian Wright has suggested that Tottenham have an advantage in the title race, as the pressure is not on them to actually win the league this season.

Wright said: “This is Tottenham’s best chance to win the league. There’s no pressure on Tottenham [unlike Arsenal and Manchester City], as they just want to be in the top four. That’s what they are aiming for.”

Arsenal and City are being expected to win the league this season, despite the fact that Leicester currently sit three points clear of both sides in first place.

Spurs are only two points behind both Arsenal and City as well, and have risen from dark horses to realistic title contenders in the last few weeks.

Whilst City and Arsenal continue to falter, Tottenham consistently pick up points, and they look most likely to win the league now this season.

There are still doubts about Leicester, despite their placing, and many are suggesting Spurs will go on and pick up their first ever Premier League title.

Wright has suggested this is because no one is expecting Spurs to win the league, meaning the lessened pressure on the players allows them to go out every week and do what they do best.

City and Arsenal are expected to win every game, but they continue to falter as the pressure of winning the league affects them.

Spurs do not face the same sort of issue due to their status as underdog, and it could prove vital as they look to win the league this season.
