West Ham reportedly scout Islam Slimani as he scores two and sets up a third

The Algerian international has allegedly caught the attention of West Ham United.

According to a report from Portuguese newspaper A Bola, West Ham United were among the clubs scouting Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani this weekend.

The Algeria international was linked with a move to the Hammers last year when the Sun claimed West Ham would make a January bid for the talented forward, and while he remains on Sporting’s books for now there is no doubt he would be an excellent addition to Slaven Bilic’s side.

The Hammers continue to struggle with injuries, with Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho currently on the side-lines, and while the return of Dimitri Payet is a huge boost how the French maestro could do with a prolific forward in front of him.

Enner Valencia is doing a decent job but it would be no surprise if Bilic moved for another striker in what remains of the January transfer window.

Slimani has scored a very impressive 20 goals in 29 matches this season, and West Ham scouts saw him net twice and set up the other in a 3-1 victory against Pacos de Ferreira on Saturday.

With a total of 45 goals in 92 matches for Sporting, and with his form better than ever, could West Ham tempt the Portuguese club with a bid in the coming days? Whatever happens, their scouts will surely be impressed by what they saw this weekend.
