Tottenham transfer news: Kante and Vardy linked in double deal; Wimmer talks confirmed

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

According to a report from the Sunday People, Tottenham Hotspur are tracking Leicester City pair N’Golo Kante and Jamie Vardy.

The duo have played a vital role in the Foxes’ surge up the Premier League table and their manager Claudio Ranieri will surely not want to sell either player any time soon.

However, Tottenham are said to be particularly interested in defensive midfielder Kante, who has shone since arriving in England last summer.

Considering Kante signed for £5.5million just a few months ago and now has a contract at Leicester until the summer of 2019 it would take a substantial bid to tempt the Foxes’ hand.

As for Vardy, he would surely not move to Tottenham only to play second fiddle to Harry Kane.

In other news, the chairman of Schalke, Clemens Tonnies, has been speaking to Westfalische Anzeiger about the prospect of signing Spurs defender Kevin Wimmer on loan.

The Austrian international only arrived at White Hart Lane in the summer but he has found chances hard to come by and Tonnies said, “With Wimmer…we are in intensive discussions.”

That said, the 23-year-old’s performance for Spurs against Leicester in the FA Cup third round replay last week, along with the fact that he is currently third-choice centre-back at the club, suggests a move is unlikely.
