Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood said on Match of the Day on BBC One on Saturday night (January 23) that Hugo Lloris is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.
“In my opinion he is the best in the league,” said the former Aston Villa boss about the Tottenham goalkeeper.
Sherwood made the comments following Tottenham’s 3-1 comeback victory over Crystal Palace away from home at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Lloris, who is arguably the only world-class player in the current Spurs team, was once again superb, making as many as five saves over the course of the 90 minutes.
In 22 Premier League appearances so far this season, the France international goalkeeper has kept seven clean sheets, and has made 1.86 saves per game and 2.56 saves per goal on average.
While Tottenham fans will agree with Sherwood’s confident claim about Lloris, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal supporters will probably disagree.
De Gea of United is a world-class goalkeeper, while Arsenal’s 2015 summer signing Petr Cech has been one of the best in the world for years.
Chelsea are struggling this season, but Thibaut Courtois is superb and is one of the best in the Premier League.
