Sunderland added another point to their total in their bid to climb out of the Premier League relegation zone when they drew 1-1 with Bournemouth on Saturday.
Not for the first time they had full-back Patrick van Aanholt to thank after the Dutchman scored his third goal of the season to cancel out Benik Afobe’s opener for the visitors.
Sunderland would have been hoping to go on and win the match from there but unfortunately for the players and manager Sam Allardyce they had to make do with a point.
That leaves the Black Cats in 19th place in the table, three points from safety with 15 games remaining.
That is still plenty of time to climb up the table but every point is vital between now and May and striker Fabio Borini could play a vital role in that period.
The Italian set up van Aanholt’s goal on Saturday and he put in a relatively good performance before being substituted shortly after the hour-mark.
Following the match we took to Twitter to see what Sunderland fans thought about Borini’s latest performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
@SunderlandAFC looks like borini is not a happy man and his reaction when subbed said it all !!!!— paul james knox (@pkablo) January 23, 2016
Dunno what Sam was thinking taking borini and lens off and leaving Johnson and catts on both had a poor games yet again #safc— stephen murray (@Fawdonblackcat) January 23, 2016
@NDJ0602 Don't like slagging off players at the ground, but disagree on Borini today. Lazy and not covering fullback. Been poor on return.— David JB (@DJBourne1976) January 23, 2016
I think Fabio Borini has played his last game for us, good riddance too. We can't afford to carry him anymore #SAFC— Michael A Purvis (@mikasavedlatin) January 23, 2016
We chased Borini for two entire transfer windows and we are looking to get rid of him after five months. If anything could sum us up...— Gaz (@GazJ2K) January 23, 2016
