Steve Evans shares conversation with Mark Warburton before Rangers move, makes a prediction

Rangers will get promoted to the Scottish Premiership, says Leeds United head coach Steve Evans, who is a Celtic fan.

Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has told STV that Rangers will get promoted to the Scottish Premiership at the end of the season.

Rangers are playing in the Scottish Championship at the moment and are going strong.

Mark Warburton’s side are currently at the top of the league table with 50 points from 20 matches. The Gers are two points clear of second-placed Hibernian, who have played a game more.

Leeds head coach Evans believes that Rangers will get promoted to the Scottish Premiership. The Scotsman, who is a Celtic fan, has also revealed the discussion he had with Warburton when he was appointed the Gers boss in the summer of 2015.

"I'm privileged to be from Glasgow," Evans told STV. "I don’t hide where my allegiance lies and my love and affection is for the team across the city. I spoke to Mark when he was appointed and told him what to expect. They’ll be back in top league, no doubt.”

Leeds are 16th in the Championship table at the moment with 35 points from 28 matches. The West Yorkshire outfit are 11 points above the relegation zone and 11 points behind Sheffield Wednesday, who are currently sixth and occupy the final playoff spot.
