Southampton made it three league wins in a row by beating Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, with Charlie Austin bagging a dream winner on his debut.
The Saints went into the game having beat Watford 2-0 and West Brom 3-0, and they made it three clean sheets in a row with a 1-0 victory over Louis van Gaal's struggling United side.
New signing Charlie Austin was the hero, as having arrived from Queens Park Rangers last weekend, he was handed a cameo as a substitute with 11 minutes left to play.
Austin then pounced in the 87th minute, heading home from a James Ward-Prowse corner to open his account for the Saints, and once again prove how prolific he can be in the Premier League.
The striker's move is seen as a major coup for Southampton having hit 18 goals for QPR last season, and he will now take some pressure of Shane Long and Graziano Pelle in Ronald Koeman's attack.
After the game, Southampton fans took to Twitter to react to Austin's incredible debut, with many stating that he already looks more dangerous in front of goal than the aforementioned Pelle.
Others were hoping that Austin could fire Southampton into Europe this season, and believe that his goal proves just what a bargain he was.
What an incredible day and debut for Charlie Austin! Very proud of my team. #saintsfc— Luke Osman (@LukeOsmanRS) January 23, 2016
Austin looked more dangerous in front of goal in 11 minutes than Pelle has in 3 months. #saintsfc— MLC (@matt_lecornu) January 23, 2016
We signed Billy Sharp in January and he helped us secure promotion. Maybe Austin will help us get into Europe? #saintsfc— Chris Ingram (@ChrisIngram96) January 23, 2016
Interesting to think what Pellé would have done with that chance. Austin buried that with a true strikers finish #saintsfc— Fresh Saints (@FreshSaints) January 23, 2016
