Rangers legend Derek Johnstone has predicted in The Glasgow Evening Times that Hibernian will finish second in the Scottish Championship this season.
Johnstone, who played for the Gers in the 1970s and 1980s and is a club legend, believes that Rangers will win the league title this campaign.
The former Scotland international has also stated that Hibernian are a strong side because of the signing of striker Anthony Stokes on loan from Celtic until the end of the season.
“Rangers have got the best squad and have got the momentum behind them so I think they will go on and win the league and it will then be between Hibernian and Falkirk to get second and avoid playing the first play-off tie,” Johnstone has written in The Glasgow Evening Times.
“Hibs have made signings already this month and Anthony Stokes will make them a stronger side. Falkirk are certainly a good side as well, but I think Hibs will beat them to second spot this season.”
Rangers are at the top of the Scottish Championship table at the moment with 50 points from 20 matches.
The Gers are two points clear of Hibernian, who are currently second and have played a game more.
Falkirk are four points behind leaders Rangers and have played 22 matches, two more than the Glasgow outfit and one more than Hibs.
Interestingly, Stokes scored on his ‘second’ debut for Hibernian on Saturday afternoon, helping the Edinburgh-based outfit to a 3-1 home win against St. Mirren.
