HITC Sport understands Birmingham City are poised to sign Middlesbrough loan star.
Fabbrini has found himself out of favour at Middlesbrough in recent weeks after joining the club on an initial season-long loan deal last summer.
The 25-year-old has started 14 of his 22 appearances in the Championship for Middlesbrough, but the Italian has started just one league game since the win over Huddersfield at the end of November.
Fabbrini has not featured in the squad for the last two games and the player is thought to be unhappy with his lack of action in recent weeks.
The news has alerted Birmingham who have held a long-term interest in Fabbrini after the attacker enjoyed a spell on loan at St Andrew's last season.
Fabbrini played five games for Birmingham last season and they were hoping to land him last summer only to lose out to Middlesbrough for his signature.
Birmingham have bid £1million for Fabbrini and Watford are ready to cancel his loan at Middlesbrough to sell him on a permanent basis to Birmingham.
Fabbrini will help fill the void left by Demarai Gray's departure to Leicester earlier this month as Birmingham look to maintain their push for promotion this season.
