The utility man was employed in midfield and thrived.
The result means that Forest are now 12 games unbeaten and talk of Dougie Freedman losing his job at the City Ground seems a distant memory.
The win came courtesy of a strike from the in form Jamie Ward, but it was the performance of Michael Mancienne that really caught the eye.
The utility man has been in great form in the heart of defence recently but has been unpopular with Forest fans when used in a holding midfield role. He was given the job yesterday however, much to the condemnation of the Forest faithful.
But he did a fantastic job in the position yesterday, nullifying the threat of Stewart Downing and Adam Forshaw in an excellent demonstration of midfield discipline.
Mancienne has been in great form recently and that has continued despite a positional switch, much to the pleasure of the Forest faithful - who were full of praise for the player on Twitter after the game...
Mancienne with a 'Des Lyttle on Zola'-esque performance by all accounts.— the_empty_net (@elliott_stanley) January 23, 2016
