Liam Bridcutt comments on Toumani Diagouraga’s imminent arrival

Rangers-linked Toumani Diagouraga is set to join Leeds United from Championship rivals Brentford, and Sunderland-owned Liam Bridcutt is looking forward to it.

Leeds United defensive midfielder Liam Bridcutt has admitted to BBC Radio Leeds that he does not know much about Brentford star Toumani Diagouraga.

“Not really,” said the Sunderland-owned midfielder when asked if he knows much about Diagouraga. “I think I have maybe played against him once. I know at Brentford he was a key player for them so it’s exciting to see what he can do.”

The Sun reported earlier this month of Rangers’ interest in Diagouraga, but Leeds head coach Steve Evans revealed on Friday that he is moving to Elland Road, telling STV: “He’s signed this morning.”

The 28-year-old is one of the better midfielders in the Championship and has been in good form so far this season.

In 27 league games this campaign, the Frenchman has created 14 chances, has a pass accuracy of 86%, and has won 15 headers, 10 dribbles and 28 tackles.

Brentford are 10th in the Championship table at the moment with 39 points from 28 matches. The Bees are seven points behind Sheffield Wednesday, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.

Meanwhile, Leeds find themselves 16th in the league table at the moment with 35 points from 28 games, 11 points above the relegation zone.
