Former Fulham and Hull City midfielder Jimmy Bullard has claimed on social networking site Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur youngster Dele Alli reminds him of French legend Zinedine Zidane.
Bullard was impressed with the performance of the 19-year-old midfielder for Tottenham against Crystal Palace away from home at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Besides scoring a stunning goal in the 3-1 comeback win, the England international took seven shots, had a pass accuracy of 81%, created three chances, attempted two dribbles, won 75% of his headers, and made one interception and one chance.
Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore also has high hopes for Alli and said on the Call Collymore show on talkSPORT on Saturday evening (January 23): “(Dele Alli) will go on to become world class for me.”
I said when I first saw Alli he reminded me of Zidane - yesterday only enforces that.— Jimmy Bullard (@jimmybullard) January 24, 2016
Alli is arguably the best teenage footballer in the Premier League at the moment and certainly looks like a massive talent.
However, it is too early to compare him to Zidane, who is one of the greatest players in football history.
What is remarkable about Alli is that he is an all-round central midfielder, and is brilliant both at going forward and in defending.
