David Provan makes a confident prediction about Anthony Stokes

Anthony Stokes recently joined Hibernian on loan from Celtic.

Former Celtic striker David Provan has written in The Scottish Sun that Anthony Stokes will be a success at Hibernian.

Stokes recently returned to his former club Hibernian on loan from Celtic until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old striker was struggling for playing time at the Scottish Premiership giants, and he will hope to feature regularly for Hibs in the Scottish Championship in the coming months.

Provan believes that Stokes, a Republic of Ireland international striker, will score goals for Hibs and will be a success at Easter Road.

“Hibs have done a terrific piece of business getting Anthony Stokes on loan until the end of the season,” the former Scotland international has written in The Scottish Sun.

“Yeah, Stokes has an attitude problem, but if Alan Stubbs can get his head right he’ll score for fun in the Championship. If Stubbs can find a system that accommodates Stokes AND Jason Cummings, Hibs can still clinch automatic promotion.”

Interestingly, Stokes scored on his ‘second’ debut for Hibernian on Saturday afternoon, helping the Edinburgh-based outfit to a 3-1 home win against St. Mirren in the Scottish Championship.

Hibernian are second in the Scottish Championship table at the moment with 48 points from 20 matches. Alan Stubbs’s side are two points behind leaders Rangers, who have a game in hand.
