Sam Byram was called into Premier League action for West Ham United far sooner than expected. After completing his move from Leeds this week, the 22-year-old started on the bench but ended up being introduced very early against Manchester City.
Cue plenty of reaction on Twitter from Everton and Leeds United fans - as well as West Ham supporters cheering the right-back on.
From the Whites faithful, there was nothing untoward. Supporters were delighted for Byram and expressed their happiness at seeing him make his top-flight debut.
A couple of Everton fans also expressed their regret at having missed out on him on social media, as Byram impressed during his first Premier League run out.
A couple also mocked the 22-year-old for starting on the bench, as he was said to have chosen West Ham over Everton for first-team football...
It all worked out for the former Leeds man in the end, however, and here's how fans reacted to his performance against Manchester City on Twitter...
What hurts as an #LUFC fan is getting more excited about watching Byram, Delph, Howson on MOTD. Should be getting excited about present team— Adam Firth (@ad_firth) January 23, 2016
