Mesut Ozil is currently at the top of his game.
The German World Cup winner has been in sensational form for his side this season, and after missing out during Arsenal’s 0-0 draw at Stoke City he will be raring to go this weekend.
Indeed, Redknapp believes Ozil could ultimately separate the two teams and foresees a struggle for Chelsea if the likes of John Obi Mikel and Nemanja Matic fail to get to grips with him.
“Managers preparing to face Arsenal will be concerned with stopping Ozil, who has been the key for them this season. Ozil is one of a few players which teams have to give special attention to,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“You cannot let players of his quality have the freedom of the park because he will destroy you, that's what he's been doing to teams. If Matic and Mikel start, they have to attach themselves to Ozil because if they don't he will be the one everyone's talking about at full-time.”
Ozil has made 20 Premier League appearances this season, scoring three goals and adding a remarkable 16 assists.
After joining the Gunners from Real Madrid for a club record fee in 2013, Ozil became the subject of heavy criticism from supporters and pundits alike after struggling to consistently hit top form.
Yet, nowadays it’s a different story as most recognise the 27-year-old as the club’s outstanding player ahead of teammate Alexis Sanchez who won last season’s Player of the Year award.
Arsene Wenger will be imploring his side to find Ozil as much as possible on Sunday, whereas Chelsea will be hoping they can rediscover their defensive solidarity and stop the German ace at source.
