The 29-year-old scored for new club Norwich but still ended up losing 5-4 to the Reds.
But Everton fans saw the irony on Twitter after the game, suggesting the Scot must be used to scoring four but still not ending up on the winning team.
Indeed, it was pure madness at Carrow Road on Saturday as the Canaries and Liverpool almost both refused to win. Momentum swung from one end to the other until James Milner put the visitors 4-3 up, Norwich equalised and then Jurgen Klopp's men finished things off with a fifth goal in injury time.
For Naismith personally, it must feel great to score against Liverpool again. Everton supporters will always love him for that.
But has he taken the curse of scoring goals galore only to concede them too with him after joining Norwich from Everton?
Here's what supporters of his former club said about his performance v Liverpool on Twitter...
See Naismith scored AGAIN! I'll never understand why he was sold & Kone kept. #EFC— Anthony Slack (@anthonyslack) January 23, 2016
Miss Naismith already, think Norwich will get their money 's worth and then some #EFC— dev kori (@dkori) January 23, 2016
Maybe Naismith is the curse, maybe now we'll be able to hold onto a lead #EFC— Cal (@Callumdeegan88) January 23, 2016
