As confirmed by the club’s official website, Leicester City have completed the signing of Daniel Amartey.
“All over Europe, people are talking about Leicester City and how well the club is doing in the Premier League. The team plays exciting, attacking football and I’m looking forward to being part of it,” he explained.
Leicester are looking at consolidating their place in the top four as boss Claudio Ranieri targets qualification for next season’s Champions League competition.
While a number of signings were unlikely to happen as Leicester look to avoid doing too much and rocking the boat, an addition or two in January was always going to be welcome and Amartey is a good acquisition.
The 21-year-old is capable of playing either in defence or as a holding midfielder, a versatility which makes him a valuable squad member and able to fill in for more than one player.
His physical strength, pace and intelligence makes him a good fit for Leicester and but arguably more importantly more than capable of dealing with the rigours of Premier League football.
It will be interesting to see if Ranieri believes he is ready to jump straight in to the first-team eleven, though either way he boasts plenty of potential and at 21 has the best years of his career ahead of him.
Writing on Twitter upon confirmation, Leicester supporters shared their opinion and welcomed the addition. Here is a selection of their comments...

I'm curious to see where Amartey fits in2 Claudio's system. We've been after him a while so clearly see him as more than just utility? #lcfc— Tim Cabrelli (@timcabrelli) January 22, 2016
Be good if Amartey's in the squad tomorrow, if not I'd like to see him get a game away at Man City #lcfc— No Fuchs Given (@ollieg21296) January 22, 2016
