Who could be heading to Tottenham Hotspur?
A look at the five key players linked to Tottenham Hotspur this week, in no particular order...
Coventry City midfielder James Maddison has been impressing this season with his performances for the League One side. The Times report Spurs are preparing to make a bid before the end of the transfer window, describing the attacker as the new Dele Alli. It is possible Tottenham could decide to loan him back to the Sky Blues if they do a deal.
The Evening Standard's gossip column claimed Tottenham are in the hunt for Juventus forward Alvaro Morata. This is not a deal we expect to see done, with Real Madrid possessing a first option on the striker. Morata would be a good addition for Spurs, but if he leaves Juventus it will be because he has been spending time on the bench lately, and moving to a club as second choice to Harry Kane is likely not on his agenda.
Fulham forward Moussa Dembele is linked with a move to Tottenham, and is into the final six months of his contract. The Evening Standard report that the Frenchman prefers not to return to Fulham on loan if a deal is done this month. French side Monaco and German club Wolfsburg are also interested in his services.
No list of potential Tottenham signings would be complete without the presence of Saido Berahino. Conflicting reports exist as to whether West Brom want to deal with Tottenham, with SkySports reporting they will face competition from Chelsea, Newcastle United and Stoke City for the striker.
This was a real surprise. The Mirror were among many newspapers to report leaked documents revealing that Spurs have a first option to re-sign Gareth Bale. If a bid is accepted from a rival Premier League club, Tottenham must be notified and have 72 hours to match the funds. As for a return this month, it's not on the agenda, but his supreme talent makes this latest round of speculation hard to ignore.
