Stan Collymore has laughed at the suggestion that Aston Villa’s hierarchy have held a productive meeting.
With Villa appointing a new chairman in Steve Hollis, talks have been ongoing behind the scenes as to how to get the side out of their current slump.
The Claret and Blues have been fighting against relegation for a number of seasons, and they appear to be set for the drop this time around.
Villa are currently 10 points away from safety in the Premier League, and they have won just two matches all season.
The board claim that they have held successful meetings, as they plan for the future, but Collymore has reacted to the news with some scepticism.
I see the Villa meeting went well! Really optimistic now that we’ll have a decent League One side in a couple of years! #UTV— Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) January 21, 2016
Villa appear to have been going in the wrong direction for some time now, with their problems becoming progressively more severe.
The Midlands outfit look like a side who are bereft of quality, and their lack of strategy has caused a great amount of frustration to form at Villa Park.
Villa are unbeaten in their last four matches, but even this improvement has done little to calm the anger of the club’s supporters, and it will be a major surprise if they are not playing Championship football next year.
