Report: Crystal Palace defender Pape Souare agrees new three-and-a-half contract at Selhurst Park

Selhurst Park - Crystal Palace - 23/02/2014

The 25-year-old joined the Premier League side last January.

Crystal Palace have received a boost with the news that defender Pape Souare has signed a new three-and-a-half year deal at Selhurst Park, the club have confirmed on their official website

The left-back joined the Eagles from Ligue 1 side Lille last January, and has gone on to make 29 Premier League appearances for Alan Pardew's men, having established himself as the club's first choice option on the left-hand side of the back four.

He has remained an integral part of the Palace side that, up until recently, was doing astonishingly well in the top flight. The Senegal international's tireless displays - which have frequently included blistering runs up the line to offer support in attack - have helped Palace keep themselves in the top half of the table, and arguably establish themselves as outsiders for a Europa League qualification spot.

Three defeats on the spin however, has seen much of their momentum disappear, and Pardew will be relying on consistent performers, like Souare, to help get their season back on track.
