The St James' Park outfit have once again been linked with the Villa forward.
But that report contradicts the Chronicle's latest claim: that Newcastle are not interested in signing the 26-year-old.
Indeed, the Magpies are said to want a new winger but some reports have disagreed with others. The Chronicle suggest Newcastle are not interested in the Villa man.
The Mail, however, report that Steve McClaren's side do want to sign the Aston Villa winger but that Swansea have also tabled an offer for Sinclair.
It's a similar situation when it comes to Andros Townsend. Some reports say Newcastle have pulled out of a bid for the wide man, while others say they are nearing a deal.
That said, the two stories could be linked. If the Magpies aren't having any luck with Townsend, Villa's Sinclair could be the man to turn to. Things haven't gone well for the 26-year-old over the last couple of seasons but, at his best, Sinclair can be a very influential Premier League winger.
