Don Hutchison suggests that Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle United should have moved for Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

Don Hutchison has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle United should have moved for Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

According to BBC Sport, Valdes is set to join Belgian club Standard Liege on loan until the end of the season.

Former Liverpool, Everton and Sunderland midfielder Hutchison is astounded that three of England’s biggest clubs did not make a move for the Spain international goalkeeper.

Valdes joined United in January 2015 on a free transfer, but he has been able to make just two Premier League appearances for the Red Devils.

The former Barcelona star’s current contract with United runs out at the end of the season.

Signing Valdes would have been a good move for Liverpool and Everton, both of whom need to recruit better goalkeepers.

Newcastle are not exactly in need of a goalkeeper at the moment. First-choice goalkeeper Tim Krul is injured at the moment, and Rob Elliot is doing well in his place.
