Jose Crespo did not last long at Aston Villa.
Aston Villa flop Jose Crespo has told Spanish newspaper Marca that he left the club because of Remi Garde's decisions.
He felt that under the manager who signed him, Tim Sherwood, he at least had hope of featuring, but under Garde he did not have this. Sherwood was sacked in October and replaced with the former Lyon boss.
He told Marca: "The change of coach we had there encouraged me (to move). At least I used to have presence on the bench, but then came the Frenchman, and I was not even summoned, and that helped to make the decision."
Crespo, 28, is keen to make an impact back in Spain and believes he can be an asset to Rayo.
He said: "The interest they have shown in me was enough to gamble on them, and I believe I can contribute my bit to help the team."
Crespo has swapped one relegation fight for another, although Rayo have more of a chance than Villa, and he may actually feature in this one.
Rayo are in 18th place out of 20 teams, just one point from safety, and are ahead of Sporting Gijon and Levante. His first match could be this Saturday against Celta Vigo.
