Remi Garde's men face Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns tomorrow afternoon.
The 29-year-old Colombian started Tuesday night’s 2-0 FA Cup third round replay win over Wycombe Wanderers but was forced off at half-time after suffering a recurrence of the hamstring problem which kept him out of the previous five matches.
He is now unlikely to feature at the Hawthorns on Saturday, with Ashley Westwood, Idrissa Gana and Jordan Veretout expected to start together in central midfield for the fourth consecutive Premier League game.
Alan Hutton is also set miss a fourth straight match since injuring his hamstring in the 3-1 defeat at Sunderland earlier this month, while Adama Traore remains sidelined with a broken bone in his foot.
Speaking to reporters, Garde said: “Alan Hutton won’t be fit for the game. Carlos Sanchez is doubtful. Adama Traore is still injured.”
Gabby Agbonlahor is also likely to miss the West Brom clash after suffering a hip injury in training earlier this week, although Garde noted that he would check on his status ahead of the match.
The long-serving striker has not feature for the club since Garde admitted to a “disagreement” between the pair in mid-December, but his manager stressed that he would be considered for selection again when fit.
“Gabby trained on the Sunday before we played Wycombe on Tuesday then he got injured with a hip problem on Monday,” added Garde. “He is probably not available, I will see today.
“Every player that I judge fit for the game of course could be involved, this is the case for Gabby.”
