Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey has a surprising choice for his footballing idol

You'll seriously never guess who it is!

We've all got those players that we spent hours pretending to be in the school yard and dreamt about partnering in the Champions League final.

And of course, most players have their own footballing heroes that they idolise, closely watch their technique and get motivated by.

Lionel Messi loved a bit of Diego Maradona and Harry Kane seems to have a bit of a bromance with Alan Shearer – those two properly love each other.

Those choices seem pretty standard compared to the player who Arsenal and Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey considers his all-time favourite.

So who did he pick? Ian Rush maybe? Gary Speed? Robbie Savage?! Nope, it's a little more left-field than that. It turns out that Ramsey has a lot of time for former Cardiff captain, Graham Kavanagh!

Speaking on Sky One's A League of Their Own, Ramsey was asked by James Corden who he looked up to, citing the likes of Maradona and Zinedine Zidane.

Ramsey replied by saying: " I was born just outside Cardiff, so I supported them. They had a midfielder called Graham Kavanagh, he was captain and a central midfielder so he was the player that I looked up to and who I wanted to be like."

We wonder if Ramsey will follow Kavanagh's style of becoming a bit of a silver fox when he enters his 30s... you know what to do Ramsey!
