Ozil missed last weekend’s 0-0 draw at Stoke City with a foot injury but he’s back in contention to face the Blues and he could be joined by fellow Arsenal favourite Alexis Sanchez.
“Ozil will certainly be available to play against Chelsea and the next two days of training will be decisive for Sanchez. But this time I think he will make it for selection,” Wenger said.
Ozil has arguably been Arsenal’s best player this season, contributing with three league goals and a quite remarkable 16 assists in 20 Premier League matches.
The German World Cup winner has also posted the unique record of having made at least one assist in seven consecutive Premier League matches – a record previously held by Thierry Henry.
Arsenal face a Chelsea side who have vastly underperformed this season, yet the Blues have often caused the North London side problems and won the reverse fixture 2-0.
Wenger will be hopeful his side can rise to the challenge, and having Mesut Ozil in the starting eleven will provide a huge boost especially after looking rather toothless against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.
Arsenal currently top the table ahead of Leicester City who host Stoke on Saturday.
