Tottenham secured their passage to the fourth round of the FA Cup by defeating Leicester City 2-0 at the King Power Stadium.
Having drawn the original tie 2-2, Spurs put in a much more dominating performance this time round, and they looked like a well oiled machine despite a number of changes to the starting XI.
Both Mauricio Pochettino and Claudio Ranieri made some amor changes to their starting line-ups, and Pochettino’s men took the upper hand early on in the game.
The dominated control of the ball, and netted in the first half through Heung Min-Son’s lovely strike. Nacer Chadli secured the victory in the second half, through more nice play from Son, and Spurs never really looked threatened.
It was a welcome return to the starting XI for one Tottenham player, who has found his chances limited this season.
Nabil Bentaleb was touted before the start of the season as one of Pochettino’s key players, considering his excellent form last season, but his campaign has been dominated by injury and poor form.
He started the season in the team, but has not played in the Premier League since August, and yesterday was just his third start of the season.
He has come under criticism for some poor performances this term, and fans took to Twitter at the end of the game to share their views on his performance against Leicester - with Bentaleb still dividing opinion.
After the first ten minutes after he settled down I thought Bentaleb had a pretty decent game!!— Mysterion? (@dabspur1882) January 21, 2016

Hopefully after today's performance Bentaleb is ahead of Carroll In the pecking order.— Alcantara (@xMajeed786) January 20, 2016
Happy Bentaleb justified his selection with a good performance. Really want him to kick on and push for starts in the league #THFC— Costa Stylianou (@Costandiniho) January 20, 2016
Bentaleb is big positive tonight, looks to have dusted off the cobwebs & can be trusted to use off the bench IMO before TC— THFC_IMO (@THFC_IMO) January 20, 2016
We all know how good Bentaleb is but I can't see him getting into the team over Dier or Dembele in the form they're in at the moment.— Jade (@Jade_1882) January 20, 2016
Really thought Bentaleb showed a real good array of passing tonight, another real good midfield option to have amongst the squad. #THFC— Ricky Sacks (@RickSpur) January 20, 2016
The people dismissive of Bentaleb's ability must be watching a different player to me— DENZ (@aledvaughan) January 20, 2016
Good to see Bentaleb forcing his way into the starting eleven with his most decent performance this season. Can only build from here #COYS— Yid Legion (@YidLegion) January 20, 2016
Bentaleb looks leagues away from the first team. Certainly the one at Spurs— Ergo (@SniersMoregut) January 20, 2016
Although Bentaleb has the odd mistake in him, he can DICTATE a game. He showed it from around 30 mins onwards— Ledders (@Georgaldinho) January 20, 2016
Hopefully Poch will have seen that he can trust Bentaleb again after tonight. Stood up strong in the second half and a good performance— WHLParkLane (@Craig_Spur) January 20, 2016
