The Togo international will not be making a move in January.

Sunderland have recently been linked with plenty of names in the transfer market, with Marseille midfielder Alaixys Romao.

However the defensive midfielder, who will be a free agent in the summer, has informed the press in France that he is not interested in a move away from Marseille this month.

As reported by The Chronicle he stated:

“I am sure to be (at Marseille) until June there is no doubt about that. Now all doubts are gone. I do not know if I will continue. For now, we have not discussed it.

“(Speculation) is normal because I did not play too much. But when the coach is counting on you, you think twice about it.”

Sunderland have already suffered disappointment in the Ligue 1 market this month after failing in two bids to bring Lamine Kone to the club from Lorient failed.

Now Romao has made it clear that he has no desire to leave his Ligue 1 club for the time being will come as yet another blow for Sunderland in the transfer market.
