David Bowie

Sales of David Bowie's music have increased over 5,000 percent since his death of cancer on Jan. 10, reports Billboard.

According to Nielsen Music, the combined sales of the iconic rock star's albums and songs rose from 5,019 percent to 682,000. Some of the most popular albums were "Best of Bowie" and "Hunky Dory."

Bowie's death came two days after he released his latest album "Blackstar," which amounted to a significant portion of his discography sales. "The new album totaled 174,000 of Bowie's sales in the newest tracking week — his largest sales week for an album since Nielsen Music began electronically tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991," writes Billboard.

"Blackstar" also made it to No. 1 on several Billboard charts, including Top Album Sales and the Billboard 200.
