Only Manchester City have scored more goals than Everton so far this season.
However, Martinez believes that his side’s attacking play deserves praise, with Romelu Lukaku earning particular praise.
"Our attacking play has been outstanding throughout the season and Romelu has been a focal point of that,” he said.
"But even when he is not scoring, he still plays a big part and the own goal because his presence and I don't think you would get a centre-half, reacting in the manner the Chelsea centre-half did, unless Rom is in that position.
"You want the goal-scoring threat to come from many different angles and at the moment, we are very pleased.
"We are a team with the biggest amount of goals from open play after a long time in the league and that is a major, major example of the quality we have in the squad but the next step is to use that goal-scoring threat into helping you win games and ensure we do that on a consistent basis.”
Everton have scored a staggering 39 goals so far this season, meaning they are the top scoring team outside the top four.
Indeed, only Manchester City have hit the back of the net more times than Martinez’s side, but the Toffees have been let down by their defensive play.
Everton have looked shaky at the back, and they have been guilty of gifting goals to opposition sides.
Martinez’s team have conceded on 32 occasions already, and unless they are able to tighten up at the back, it is unlikely that they will be able to meet their expectations.
