According to a report in the Sunderland Echo, Adam Matthews could be set for a swift exit from the Stadium of Light.
Two Championship clubs are interested in the 24-year-old, and they could submit offers in the near future.
Matthews only joined Sunderland from Celtic in the summer transfer window, but he has failed to make an impact on Wearside.
The left-back has played just twice for the Black Cats, and he is yet to feature since Sam Allardyce took charge.
Sunderland are keen to offload many of their fringe players in January, and Matthews could be one of a number of departures at the North East club.
Danny Graham has already switched to Blackburn Rovers, and Costel Pantilimon has moved to Watford with more players set to leave in the imminent future.
The Sunderland Echo say that Jordi Gomez and Valentin Roberge are also up for sale, but it looks likely that Matthews will be the next one out of the exit door.
