Newcastle United are not interested in signing Scott Sinclair from Aston Villa in the January transfer window, according to The Chronicle.
Earlier this week, The Guardian claimed that Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren has registered an interest in the 26-year-old.
Aston Villa struggles
Sinclair joined Villa on a permanent contract from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the summer of 2015 after spending the second half of last season on loan at Villa Park.
The Englishman is a good player, but he has struggled to play well this season. The former Chelsea and Swansea City winger has scored two goals and created three chances in 16 Premier League appearances for the Villans.
Sinclair has a pass accuracy of 85% and a shot accuracy of 60%, and has won five headers, 14 dribbles and eight tackles.
Villa are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with just 12 points from 22 matches. Meanwhile, Newcastle currently find themselves third from bottom in he standings with 21 points from 22 games.
