Queens Park Rangers winger Matt Phillips is also said to be interesting both West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United.

According to Sky Sports, Middlesbrough have launched a £6 million bid for Queens Park Rangers winger Matt Phillips.

The 24-year-old is one of the most in demand players in the Football League currently, with a host of teams linked.

The likes of West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United have both been said to be chasing the wide man in the Daily Mirror, but Middlesbrough have stolen a march on the competition.

Boro are determined to strengthen their squad in January, as they look make sure they make it into the Premier League.

Aitor Karanka’s side currently lead the way in the Championship, but they are refusing to rest on their laurels.

Boro want Phillips to strengthen their attacking options, and QPR are said by the Kilburn Times to be willing to offload him for the right price.

The R’s chances of promotion look slim, and they are keen to cut their wage bill as they plan for another season in England’s second tier.
