Liverpool have lined up a move for Alex Teixeira of Shakhtar Donetsk, the Daily Mail reports.
Teixeira has been in prolific form for the Ukrainian side this season, scoring 26 goals in 26 games in all competitions, as well as managing five assists.
He has a proven record in the Champions League as well as league football, and has been touted for a Brazilian call-up before too long.
The report claims that Chelsea have had a long standing interest in Teixeira, but Liverpool have jumped ahead of the Blues by making a swoop for the 26-year-old attacker.
Able to play in attacking midfield and on both wings, Jurgen Klopp is said to be a big fan of Teixeira, and is not put off by the £29 million price tag that Shakhtar have placed upon his head.
The Reds have already made moves to sign him, having flown a delegation to Florida to meet Teixiera and his representatives, with Shakhtar currently on a mid-season friendly tournament in the USA.
They want to have a deal wrapped up as soon as possible, and are waiting to see if Teixeira is open to a move to Anfield this month.
