Predicted Manchester United and Southampton line-ups: New signing to start

Old Trafford

Here is how we predict Manchester United and Southampton will line up this weekend:

To be played on Saturday 23rd January 2016 at 15:00. Venue: Old Trafford, Manchester

Odds: Man Utd 4/5, Draw 12/5, Southampton 19/5

Manchester United welcome Southampton to Old Trafford on Saturday with Louis van Gaal’s side looking to maintain their impressive recent form.

United defeated Liverpool 1-0 last time out and with Wayne Rooney looking resurgent the skipper will be looking to lead his side to another victory.

United are currently fifth in the Premier League with 37 points from 22 matches while Southampton are 10th with 30 points to date.

The Saints recently added Charlie Austin to their ranks and the former Queens Park Rangers striker is expected to make his debut this weekend.

United are yet to make any January signings and they may well settle for the players already at their disposal given the amount of money van Gaal has already spent at the club.

In early team news, United are without Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia and Michael Carrick, while Phil Jones and Bastian Schweinsteiger are major doubts.

Ashley Young has a knee injury but is rated at 75 per cent to be fit if called upon.

As for Southampton, they must do without Maarten Stekelenburg, Florin Gardos and Jay Rodriguez while Graziano Pelle is a doubt with a knee injury.
