Merson used to play for Arsenal, as well as Aston Villa and Portsmouth and still retains his affection for the club.
"Yes, 100 per cent. Not a problem at all."
He is either coming around to his new found admiration of Mauricio Pochettino's side, or he has total faith in Arsenal that they will do the business and finish ahead of their rivals.
At present there are five points between the two sides, with Arsenal in first place on 44 and Tottenham in fourth position with 39.
After this weekend if that gap is halved to two, which would need Spurs to win at Crystal Palace and Arsenal to lose at home to Chelsea, Merson may be feeling a bit more nervous - but there is plenty of football to be played between now and the end of the season.
If Tottenham do usurp their rivals however, this is a pledge fans will ensure Merson is not allowed to forget.
