Ahead of Morgan Schneiderlin's move to Manchester United over the summer, his impact at Southampton was simply profound.
Saints fans were very much enamoured with their French playmaker, who could decide games for Ronald Koeman's men such was his influence from midfield.
He was in demand after his strong Southampton form and Manchester United ended up winning the race for Schneiderlin's signature when there was a case to argue why he should move to any number of Premier League clubs.
Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal could all have done with him in midfield - while Southampton supporters wouldn't have wanted to lose him.
He will return to action with the St Mary's outfit this weekend, however, just not wearing a Saints shirt. Indeed, the 26-year-old will face Southampton as a Manchester United man and sent his old team a message on Twitter ahead of the reunion.
He is under no illusions about what the South Coast club taught him as a player. But will he use it all against Koeman and co this weekend?
