Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Kevin Stewart's performance

Former Tottenham trainee Kevin Stewart impressed in Liverpool's win over Exeter.

Manager Jurgen Klopp challenged his Liverpool youngsters and fringe players to prove themselves against League Two side Exeter City, and at the second time of asking, they delivered.

After an erratic first leg in which they drew 2-2 away from home, Liverpool dominated the second leg and won 3-0, with a scoreline which really could have been higher.

Young goalscorers Sheyi Ojo and Joao Teixeira took obvious plaudits, but one more under the radar performance was that of midfielder Kevin Stewart.

Stewart was part of Tottenham Hotspur's academy, before being tempted to leave and join the Reds, and has had to make do with loan spells in order to get first team football.

The benefits of these showed last night, with Stewart looking assured shielding the back four and breaking up play. It was his tackle which led to Sheyi Ojo scoring the second and putting the result of tie beyond doubt.

Whether it is enough to persuade his manager to give him further opportunities remains unclear, and a tie against West Ham in the next round dictates a likely change in team selection.

Stewart though did himself plenty of favours with his display, and appears to have won the approval of the fan base.
