Liverpool beat Exeter City 3-0 to book their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Exeter City make look back on the tie as a whole as a missed opportunity. After twice leading in the tie at St James' Park, they came up against a much-improved, though still inexperienced, Liverpool side at Anfield last night, as the Reds made it through to round four.

Goals from Joe Allen, Sheyi Ojo and Joao Carlos Teixeira ensured Liverpool's passage in the competition where they will face West Ham United at Anfield.

It was a pretty straightforward night for the home side as they weren't put under the kind of pressure they experienced 12 days earlier and looked relatively comfortable.

Though Paul Tisdale may not have got the result he wanted, he can still be proud of his side for taking the Reds to a replay, while Jurgen Klopp will feel vindicated by resting so many of his frontline players for both games as many youngsters got some first team experience, as well as progressing in the competition.

It was also a special night for Jon Flanagan who made his first appearance for the first team in over 600 days as a second half substitute after being sidelined with a persistent knee injury which required two operations.
