Birmingham fans react on Twitter after manager Gary Rowett signs new contract

Birmingham City FC - St. Andrews

Manager Gary Rowett has signed a new contract with Birmingham City.

Birmingham City today confirmed on their official website that highly-rated manager Gary Rowett has signed a new contract with the club.

The Blues were in a perilous situation when Rowett took charge of the club in October 2014, as they were second bottom of the Championship table following an 8-0 home defeat to Bournemouth.

However, former Burton Albion boss Rowett has worked wonders at St. Andrews, gradually turning Birmingham from relegation candidates to play-off contenders in just over a year.

Rowett, 41, is now regarded as one of the finest up-and-coming managers in English football, and he has been tipped to become a Premier League boss in the future - whether that's with Birmingham or another club.

Now, Birmingham have moved to make sure that he stays with the club for a while yet, as Rowett has signed a new and improved contract at St. Andrews, ahead of this weekend's game against Ipswich Town.

Fans have been reacting on Twitter ever since Rowett's new deal became official, and it's clear that they are delighted with the news.

Some aren't too happy with the nature of Rowett's rolling contract, but are glad to see that his great work has been rewarded with a new contract, which will no doubt contain a considerable pay rise.
